I lead the Noise and Bioacoustics team at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) in the UK. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Susan Parks in the Department of Biology at Syracuse University. My research focuses on the impact of man-made noise on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and ways of analyzing the soundscape in these environments. I carried out my doctoral research at the University of Bath, UK, on methods of characterizing noise exposure from shipping. My interests include vocal behavior, acoustic partitioning in community ecology, analysis of big data from long-term monitoring, and ship noise assessment incorporating AIS ship-tracking data and time-lapse footage.
